Horizon projects (ii, electronic books)

Electronic book is one of the soon-to-adopt technologies as described in Horizon Report. These are my notes about it.

Electronic book includes every device able to reproduce book-like content, not only kindle-like devices but also tablets and smartphones as well.

Main characteristic of electronic book are not devices' features or contents, but the actions and experiences that users can develop with them.

There's some issues to be resolved as standars, DMR or pricing, but new possibilities are so open that this item will become a must in higher education.

Horizon Project (i)

Reading the Horizon Project 2011 edition.

This is about information technologies trends for the next 5 years, in 2011 it resembles electronic books and mobiles for the short term, augmentd reality and game-based learning for medium term (1 to 2 years on), and gesture-based computing and learning analytics for the long term (up to 5 years to adopte).

The project produces a final report, but there's extra information in the Horizon Project Navigator.

Furthermore, the wiki used by the expert council to develop the report is fully available at http://horizon.wiki.nmc.org.

Full attack!

It's been some months from last post when I eventually take my M.Sc. degree.

Now I'm beggining my Ph.D. research, I will continue at LITE (Laboraoty of Information Technologies in Education), with Raquel Hijón Neira and Ángel Velázquez Iturbide, and it will be about Visualizarion in e-Learning.

This blog will be a communication tool, as well as a recording one.
